Design Engineer

Rapistak Corporation is hiring a Design Engineer with expertise in custom machine building to generate models and production drawings for manual and automated stacker crane storage systems for a growing company. In this role, you’ll be a primary contributor to the design and development of complex electro-mechanical machines. You will utilize your design background, and combine with outstanding leadership skills to help move these projects from design through development and testing.

We produce storage and retrieval systems for Die/Mold Handling, MRO, WIP and in several industries from Industrial to Military. We invite you to become part of our continued success. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on product design and work flow documentation independently and in a team environment
  • Conceptualize and design manual and automated storage and retrieving systems
  • Select, specify, and request quotes for major items such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, machining, etc.
  • Provide all engineering outputs to manufacturing (BOM, detail dwgs, dwg lists, packing lists etc.)
  • Responsible for the submittal of drawings and design documents to customers for approval, receiving and applying the customer comments on design documents or providing suitable responses.
  • Meet or exceed the company’s design schedules and commitments in order to meet the manufacturing and proactive project schedule objectives.
  • Communicate with shop or subcontractors to answer their questions, provide clarifications and apply modifications to the design drawings/specifications if required.
  • Actively contribute during engineering meetings to meet the company’s goals as well as to provide general information.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Design Engineering experience
  • Proficient in SolidWorks

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Engineering experience in industrial electro-mechanical equipment
  • Experience and knowledge of steel fabrication
  • Experience working with vendors to source components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • FEA experience is a plus
